Description
The Black Jewfish is also known as Blotched Jewfish, Spotted Jewfish or Jewie. Black Jewfish colour varies often shades of bronze, green to blackish on the upper body and the flanks are lighter with brilliant silvery appearance. Small dark spots are visible upper body which maybe faded or absent on larger fish. The are fins dark yellowish in appearance, the tail fin is pointed distinguishing it from the southern jewfish or Mulloway. Black Jewfish changes to a blackish colour with death. Black Jewfish can grow up to 150cm and about 40kg.
