Dolphin Fish | Coryphaena hippurus

Dolphin Fish is also known as Mahi Mahi and Dorado. The Dolphin fish has Brilliant colourations of metallic blue and green hues on the upper body with vibrant silver and golden flanks. Iridescent blue to black spots scattered on the sides.

Once caught a Dolphin fish colour fades with death. Dolphin fish are usually landed up to about 1 m in length and can grow to approximately 160cm in length.

Distribution

New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia.

Light to Medium Tackle

Lures
Chrome Spoons, Skirted lures, poppers and Saltwater Flies.

Baits
Pilchards, Squid, Mullet, Yellowtail, Slimy Mackerel and Garfish.
