Macquarie Perch | Macquaria australasica

The Macquarie Perch is also known as Murray Bream, Silver Eye, White Eye, Mountain Perch, Black Bream, Macca and Murray perch. The overall colour of the Macquarie Perch is a dark silver grey to sooty black along the back and flanks, progressing to a lighter creamy colour on the belly and beneath the gills. Macquarie Perch have a distinctive whitish eye which is why they are often called white eye or silver eye perch.

Macquarie Perch can grow to 3.5kg and up to approximately 45cm in length however fish to 1.2kg are more common.
