Description
The Tarwhine is also known as the Goldlined Seabream, Bream and Silver Bream. The Tarwhines overall body colour shimmering silver with golden hues on the upper back forehead and around the eyes. Yellow lines present down the body these are actually spots on the scales forming the lines. The dorsal and caudal fins are yellowish close to the body with a dark margin. The anal and pelvic fins are bright yellow with the pectoral fins being a clear dusty yellow. Tarwhine are often confused with Yellowfin Bream, however Tarwhine are brighter silver the head is clearly more rounded and the scales are finer than the Yellowfin Bream. Tarwhine can grow to more than 2kg and 50cm long though catches up to 1 kg are more common.
