Description
The Small Mouth Nannygai is also known as the Crimson Sea Perch, Nannygai and Reds. The body colour of the Small Mouth Nannygai is generally a deep red on the upper back and flanks however sometimes it may also be a lighter orange red. The lower flanks and belly area are more pinkish red to silvery in colour. Other distinctive features of the Small Mouth Nannygai is an area of deep crimson on the head above the eyes, also there is a saddle spot present between the soft dorsal fin and tail fin. Small Mouth Nannygai can grow to 10kg and approximately 80cm in length however fish up to 5 kg are more commonly caught.
